April is Awesome - Post 2

Hello, lovely readers! I have been enlisted to help Ruby at Ruby's Reads announce some new books during her APRIL IS AWESOME event!
Who: Well, me, obviously--Ruby from Ruby's Reads

What:
April is Awesome--a month-long celebration of books that will be published during the awesomest month of the year! Author interviews and guest posts, excerpts and giveaways, I’ve got a lot planned!

Where: Ruby's Reads, of course!

When: The entire month of April!

Why: Because it's my birthday month and I wanted to celebrate in a big way.

Today's Book Announcement is a new Historical Fantasy:

In the Shadow of Blackbirds Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble
by Cat Winters Website / Facebook / Twitter
Release Date: April 2, 2013
Publisher: Amulet Books

In 1918, the world seems on the verge of apocalypse. Americans roam the streets in gauze masks to ward off the deadly Spanish influenza, and the government ships young men to the front lines of a brutal war, creating an atmosphere of fear and confusion. Sixteen-year-old Mary Shelley Black watches as desperate mourners flock to séances and spirit photographers for comfort, but she herself has never believed in ghosts. During her bleakest moment, however, she’s forced to rethink her entire way of looking at life and death, for her first love—a boy who died in battle—returns in spirit form. But what does he want from her?

Featuring haunting archival early-twentieth-century photographs, this is a tense, romantic story set in a past that is eerily like our own time.

Come back each day this week to see a new book featured. On Saturday, a giveaway will go up for a chance for someone to win one of the four books I will be showing off!

  1. I've been seeing In The Shadow of Blackbirds everywhere and I was always intrigued by it. It sounds so incredibly different and I don't know what to expect.
